History of Grama Panchayat

Poomangalam is a historically and culturally significant village in Kerala that was once part of the old Cochin Legislative Assembly constituency. The village was traditionally known for its skilled potters who traded beautifully crafted clay pots through the Kodungallur port, and its name is believed to have evolved from “Poomankalam.” Rich in heritage, Poomangalam is home to important religious and architectural landmarks such as Payammal Temple, Elambalakkattu Temple, and Kalparambu Church.
